JCPB Considers Fiber Optics

The Johnson City Power Board is considering setting up a fiber optic network to offer cable, telephone, and internet service to residents of Washington County. If they decide to do it, it will take a few years to build it.

Hollywood Writers Strike Ends

The writers are back! The Hollywood writers strike has finally ended. Some of the half hour comedies will be returning in March but for the hour dramas it will take longer.

ETSU's New Alarm System

After several shootings at different schools across the country, ETSU will be installing a new alarm system to alert students of an emergency. Not only will this system alert students of a shooting it will also tell them if there is bad weather or a fire.

NIU Shooting

A gunman, wearing all black, opened fire from a lecture stage at the Northern Illinois University on Thursday. In the shooting he killed 5 people and injured 16 others before taking his own life.

Elizabethton Fails Water Test

After water test results were released on Monday, Elizabethton’s water failed the state water test. The city’s score was 40 out of the possible 100.

Tornadoes Devastate the Southeast

Tornadoes devastated the southeast on Tuesday. It hit middle Tennessee in Lafayette near Nashville late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. 55 people were killed 31 of those were Tennesseeans.
